Rookie Pitchers Of The Year

Wade Miley (28.574 F12) had an excellent rookie season for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The left-hander narrowly missed capturing the National League Rookie of the Year Award, which went to Bryce Harper. The kid deserved a trophy to take into the woods during his off-season redneck hunting trips.

I’d like to see MLB change the ROY awards, and hand out an Offensive Rookie of the Year for position players, and a Rookie Pitcher of the Year.

The ROY awards are minor compared to the MVP and the Cy Young, but why not properly recognize both sides of the ball?

In the American League this year, the trio of Yu Darvish (28.353 F12), Wei-Yin Chen (26.458 F12), and Jarrod Parker (27.241 F12) all received votes for ROY, but none were recognized for an award.

Let’s give the pitchers their own hardware from now on….
